Home of the Ashfall - Reflection

  John Jack Wigley wrote an article called The Home of the Ashfall. It focuses on his experiences and observations during Mount Pinatubo's explosion. Mount Pinatubo is an active stratovolcanic caldera in the Zambales Mountains, on the tripoint boundary of the Philippine provinces of Zambales, Tarlac, and Pampanga, all in Central Luzon on Luzon's northern island. Pinatubo had been badly eroded and was no longer visible. Several thousand indigenous Aetas lived in the deep forests that covered the volcano. Before the pre-eruption volcanic events of 1991, just before it erupted on June 15, 1991, most people were unaware of its eruptive history. His work's key argument is that tragedy can have a detrimental impact.
